Well we have survived a rather busy school holiday.
The first week was spent by the boys doing a soccer camp and Hudson training for the KES festival. They enjoyed both and it was nice that they could still be busy with their sports, even through the holidays. They learnt quite a bit during the soccer camp and hopefully they will be able to use it during this next term.

The KES festival started on 1 April and there was great excitement. Hudson was presented with his own kit bag, with his number on it, and a rather flashy rugby jersey.. They were given the whole kit from warm up jerseys to tracksuits to warm down shirts and short - Hudson was very chuffed. It was very well organised, both from our school as far as the boys went, as well as through KES.
He tackled the biggest guy on the field during one game, which had Annie and I screaming and jumping up and down ! He was also tackled a few times but straight up and carried on. He was the smallest in the squad which was a big surprise for me, but we are really proud of his efforts.
For those who stayed in JHB for the holidays will know that the weather was all over the place - we went from mist and rain on the first day, to being horribly sunburnt on the second rugby day, to getting totally soaked and froze on the 3rd day.
The Brents joined us for most of the festival, which was great as Campbell was all enthusiastic the first day but this soon dwindled. Ethan kept him company and they had such fun together.

All eggs had to be hidden at a safe "Zoe level" so the boys got to climb the jungle gym and trees to retreave their stash. Luckily the Easter Bunny didn't over do the Easter Eggs this year so there wasn't too much of a sugar over- load. The following week was spent by the boys vegging and sleeping (and eating Easter Eggs). We went to a movie but most of the time was spent relaxing.
We went down to celebrate Mike & Kath's 40th, by unfortunately Kath's brother was killed on Table Mountain while hiking the day before, so from celebrations it went to a very sad visit. It was great to see them again, even though it was under the most aweful circumstances. It was another reminder of how short life is and how important our time with each other, every day is just so important.
All my best my friend, and wishing that the hole in your heart is filled with lots of love from all the happy memories.
Aaron and I went to Cape Town on the Friday and the boys spend the weekend between friends and granny & grandpa.
Before we knew it it was 2 in the morning and we headed back to the hotel for a much needed sleep.
The boys won 4 of their 6 matches which was great.
On the last day we had a 3 hour wait between games, and as it was raining, decided to head out for lunch. We found a chinese restuarant in a rather dodgy part of Cyrildene but it proved to be awesome. As there were 10 of us, we ordered 8 different dishes which were all set in the middle of the table, and we sat chatting and trying out all the dishes for the next 2 hours.
It was really fantastic food and an enjoyable afternoon.
Easter is usually spent at the lodge but because of the rugby we stayed home and had a quiet day. It was a bit more difficult doing the whole Easter egg thing with the boys getting older and Zoe - who is a gun dog and a great sniffer !

Saturday Aaron and I literally did the Cape Peninsular in a day ! We woke up late and headed out to Noordhoek for breakfast - we then took a drive around Chapmans Peak and through Hout Bay, a trip to Kirstenbosch gardens then through to Rhodes Memorial and eventually we ended up at Big Bay for a drink at Moyo.
We headed back to the hotel for a sleep before meeting up with Collette and George for dinner.
We went to Dias Tavern again and had a really great evening. Collette and I ended up dancing and even managed to get George up and dancing at one stage which was great. From there we headed out to a place at the V & A waterfront (can't remember the name of the place now) and had a night cap there.
Before we knew it it was 2 in the morning and we headed back to the hotel for a much needed sleep.
Next morning we met up with Aaron's cousin and his wife for breakfast. They have 2 little ones and I got a chance to hold and play with a baby again which was really special - I even got him to sleep !
We then headed out to Aaron's uncle and aunt for coffee and then off to the airport.
We fetched the boys at 18h30 and headed home - all very tired.
It was a great holiday but I must admit it was great getting back into a routine and "normal" life again.
The boys headed off to school on Monday and so we will tackle the 2nd term.
