Easter

This year's Easter weekend felt a lot short than past Easter weekends for some reason.  The last 2 years we have not been able to go through to the farm as Hudson played in the KES rugby festival for BPS 1st team - and the next 2 years will be back for the KES festival for Campbell when he plays first team next year for BPS.  If Hudson does well in his rugby, the following 2 years after that will be the Saints festival for their first team !  I think our Easters are predetermined for a while.  I LOVE watching my boys do sport so I am definitely not complaining.

This year Hudson being a grade 8 boys signed up for the ball boys for the Saints festival, so we only go to the farm Saturday afternoon.

On Friday we headed out to Parys for the day not realising that because it was a religious holiday, all the shops would be closed !  We decided to gate crash friends holiday at the Vaal as they have a house there.  We spent the day on the boat and stopped off on the river for lunch at a quaint hotel.  We eventually got home around 22h00 after staying for a braai.  It was a great day relaxing with friends - the boys even swam which I thought was very brave - they didn't stay in too long.

On Saturday after Hudson had finished his ball boy duties we headed off to the farm.  The rest of the weekend was spent chilling out, reading and catching up on some super 15 rugby.  Aaron decided it was time for Campbell to learn to drive and I must say that he did very well even with the rude comments from his brother !

The "easter bunny" arrived at 05h00 on Sunday morning which is a very cold time to be outside on the farm hiding eggs.  Campbell finally discovered that mom was the easter bunny although I think he has know for a while now but was scared to admit it in fear that he wouldn't get eggs !  We had a few tears because he had been lied to for so long but got over it rather quickly - shame, the end of make believe for him.

The boys had a ball running around collecting eggs and the lawn was divided so they each had their own area to search to avoid any fighting with who saw what first.

Aaron had filled the trailer with all the wood from the trees we cut back when we moved into our new place so after negotiating their way through the bush to the pump room, the wood was unloaded and we are now ready for our winter fires.

We left Monday morning and got back to JHB around 13h00 and then headed off to Saints for the last of the festival, Hudson having ball boy duty again, and the 1st final game.

It was a great weekend - far too short for my liking but special time spent together.
