Hudson's 13th Birthday

My baby has turned 13 and had an awesome day. 

We went out for supper on the Tuesday night before his birthday as we had the Saints introduction evening the next night.  He chose a little Chinese restaurant in Pineslopes and we fetched Nick, his best friend, and met the Brents there.

It was a great evening - it started out with no electricity but the Chinese woman who could hardly speak English assured us that "all be okay" and loaded our table with candles.  Electricity came on and we had a great dinner.  The Chinese lady found out it was Hudson's birthday and was very excited about that - she ran off inside and came out with file with tattoos and stickers etc and then presented him with fried banana dessert and ice cream, which he wasn't too sure about but ate it after Nick convinced him it was good.

The next morning he woke us up early for his presents and then it was off to school with his school cake - it was prefects day so he didn't have to wear his uniform, which was a bonus.

On Friday evening his friends arrived for a sleep over and an early morning start to Gold Reef city.  It was a great day and the boys had SUCH fun.  We literally went from one ride to the next and there was great excitement and reliving each ride as we headed off to the next one.

We got home at around 2 and the traditional home party started soon after that.  It is always just a crazy afternoon filled with plenty food, fun, water slides and many laughs.  The kids had a jol on the slide and we were chuffed that it fitted in the new pool (although I must admit that we did check that out before buying the house).

Eventually the dads tried their luck at the slide and to see if they were still stronger than the kids - they won the title of "top of the slide" but it is getting more and more difficult for them each year, and soon this will be the kids holding the title.  I am sure there are a lot of stiff bodies this morning !

We did ice cream cake this year which went down really well being as hot as it was and eventually the evening settled down with kids watching a movie and the adults sitting around chatting. 

It wasn't a late evening but everyone was finished after all the fun and swimming.

So happy 13th birthday Hudson - luv you lots and very proud of you.
